As we make the final turn in Advent, this season of hope-filled expectation, we look to the source of the reason for our hope, and that is the LOVING act of our Lord and our Creator to send His people the best life raft in the middle of us drowning in our sin. Our Father sent the Son as a completely vulnerable child to turn the world on its side and to show us that our allegiance, our faith, and our service must be given to God alone as a response to this loving act. In love and grace, humanity is saved, and with the love and grace of God’s church, God’s people share God’s HOPE and LOVE with the world.
This week our hospitals are filled with sick people, our government is grasping for answers on how to respond, and the people are on our streets in need of the essentials to live. Some barely get by, and others make tough decisions about what they are willing to go without at this time so that their families can eat. We have congregation members struggling right now, whether from the fear of the effects of Covid or other ailments that have them under the care of physicians. Our world needs HOPE; our communities need LOVE; the CHURCH needs to rise and bring HOPE and LOVE that we have received for God right now!
Psalms 89:1-4 (NIV)
1I will sing of the Lord ’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.
2I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.
3You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant,
4‘I will establish your line forever and make your throne firm through all generations.’ ”
